Friday night Tacos is a modern classic in Sweden. Some marketing genius came up with the term Fredagsmys (litteraly translated as cosy Friday, but it means staying in on a Friday and be with your loved ones) and Tacos has become a major part of that.
It might not be tacos like your used to it, it’s more of a Swedish family orientated version of Tacos but it is delicious. It’s one of those things where every family will have their own combinations and way of doing it and the sky really is the limit when it comes to what you put in it. Personally I prefer to use tortilla bread rather than the hard taco shells and then I put too much of everything on there (more is more, as I say!) and use doritos to eat enough to be able to close the bread.
We went for a fairly standard version for our tacos tonight, the only thing I consider a must have that I know a lot of people find a bit strange is bananas and cashew nuts. They work so well together with the guacamole! We also had tomatoes, cucumber, sweet corn, lettuce, onion, minced beef (and yes, I actually go to the Swedish shop to buy the Swedish taco spice mix for the mince), grated cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, tortilla bread and doritos. What a way to kick off the weekend!
